How You Should Feel When Someone Copies You

On Quora someone asked:

How should I feel when people copy my style, vocabulary, tone of voice, ideas, habits, tastes in music and food, or any other aspect of my existence?

This was my response:

I have a regular personality and a business personality. I compiled my business personality based off of the industry leaders that I know.

I mimic diction, habits, and even precision points.

Then in turn, other people mimic me. Or, at least my business personality. No one wants to mimic my regular personality. It’s just not that cool.

The reason I do it is because I highly value the way these people do business.

If people are mimicking what you do, chances are they highly respect who you are.

Be grateful that others see the value in what you do.

  1. Its getting harder to stand out!
5 years ago there were [THIS MANY] websites tweets apps, Now that has multiplied not only by the number of participants but also by platforms.

You can only do so much. So when people copy my material that is Destination Marketing and Videos I am actually flattered that they are emulating my success.
