What to Do If a Client Is Pushing for a Discount

On Quora, someone asked:

Dilemma: A client is pushing you to the limit to get a huge discount on a service, knowing you really need the business at the moment. Do you think you should deliver the same quality of service as you would to a client that is paying full price?

This is how I responded:

He knows you need his business and he’s pushing a steep discount?

How badly do you need the business?

If it’s not in an act of pure desperation, ditch the client. He’s going to whine and complain at every corner and then write bad reviews of you.

Your worst paying customers are your unhappiest customers. Get rid of them before they get rid of you, publicly.
