I am spending way too much money, more than I earn actually. What are some tips to reduce the amount I spend?

This was my response:

Open two banking accounts. Tear up one debit card. Move all your excess money into the account with the torn up card. Direct deposit works best. Oh and allocate a percentage to a 401k. What you don’t see, you can’t spend.
