What I Would Tell My Best Friend If I Could See Her One More Time

I miss my best friend.

We used to talk each and every day, from 2004 up until February 2013. We had disputes at times, and parted ways for a while, but always ended back as best friends. We watched each other fall, go through heartbreak, falter, and lose ourselves. We stayed close when each of us lost all that we had worked so hard to attain.

Now all I have left is thousands upon thousands of email conversations and pictures to flip through.

This is what I would tell my best friend if I could see her one more time.

Last time I saw you was on my birthday. There was something about you that was different. You were filled with a charisma of which you never carried before. I could see that you were devoted to your cause and by the side of God. Instead of seeing the drunk and lost soul that I grew to know, I saw a celestial being full of class and eloquence.

I remember how you overcame everything that came your way, from being on your own, being penniless, living in your car, dealing with alcoholism, breaking your neck, fighting temptation, and being in jail due to being unable to pay your DUI fees.

It seemed you had finally found yourself and were ready to embrace change.

I hope you’re making the world a better place.

I never got a chance to tell you this before you vanished, however I love you. I love you with all my heart, and I will always wish the best for you. You’ll always be my best friend.

Maybe, just maybe… One day, we will be able to see each other again. We can pick up where we left off and tell each other of the stories we have gone through after we parted ways. We can converse daily about what we have gone through, what we want to aspire to become, or quite possibly even what we have accomplished thus far.

I never got to say goodbye properly, however I hope this will suffice. I believe you will change the world. I know you have what it takes in you.
